Happy One Month to me!!! I’m 4 weeks post-op from my PAO and arthroscopy today. Sometimes I can’t believe that that amount of time has gone by and other times I know I’ve felt every single minute go by.
I am still pretty bed bound, but I do try to do an outing here and there. I’ve had some really great visitors lately. Today is my third day in a row feeling great! I had two outings yesterday. I don’t have any more pain because of it, but I am exhausted. I was able to sleep in and I also took a long nap in the afternoon. I’m just in a time right now that it is crucial to listen to my body and that is exactly what I’m doing. I’m currently not working so my job has become to recover and rehab this body. That is it.
I’m currently on the lowest dose of my pain meds and taking them every eight hours. I’m waiting a few more days until I try to wean again. I’ve been off the Celebrex for three days now and each day I have felt good. Not sure if it’s a coincidence or not. I found out that if you have an allergy to sulfa drugs, then you should not take Celebrex. Well guess who’s been on it for several weeks and has an allergy to sulfa drugs? This girl! I don’t know how that was missed, but I’m glad I caught it. I had two more refills I was suppose to use, so I’m glad I found out now. I think it might explain my nausea, vomiting and stomach problems when I couldn’t quite pin those symptoms on anything else.
I have been having some groin pain for the last week or so. I had x-rays taken after I took all those falls and everything looks good and is in the right place. I see the surgeon in three weeks for my second follow-up appointment so I will ask him about it then.
I have been able to sleep on my left side (non op side) with minimal pain for about four days in a row now. My “butt” pain, which is from the six cuts and bone grafts in my ischial tuberosity, has been better the past two days. Thank goodness! When that is bad, it is BAD! My friend dropped off her pregnancy pillow. It is a huge, long body pillow and also a wedge pillow. I can’t wait to try out sleeping with it to see if it helps reduce some of that pain.
My incision is still looking good. The steri strips are still in place. I have had to replace a few as the old ones fall off.
I start with my new physical therapist this Saturday. My surgeon recommended him and I wanted to move to the facility that is closer to my house since I will have to find rides or take an Uber. It’s the same physical therapy company, just a different location. I hope he’s good and super knowledgeable about PAO rehabs.
