Literally Hip

Hi and welcome to Literally Hip!

I am a registered nurse who has also spent several years on the patient side of the medical field. Let’s just say it’s not fun on that side of the bed! Medicine is a different culture, with a new language. It’s confusing and frustrating and scary and can leave you feeling so alone. Well that’s where I come in! Because I am a nurse, I know the language and can interpret it for you. I can talk to doctors and medical staff and I know what questions to ask and how to navigate through many different situations and obstacles. That being said, when I was a patient, it was still frustrating at times. I can only imagine what you are feeling and that is why I am here to help.

Let Me Help:
Are you confused? Are you stressed? Are you in shock? Do you know where to research your options? What is your next step(s)? Are you feeling fear of the unknown? Do you feel frozen and that there’s too many decisions to make? Do you need a hug? Do you need someone to discuss your options with or to have someone listen to your feelings? Do you need to verbally process your health journey?

Well you have found the right person! I’m your girl! I can help lighten your burden. Let’s connect and set up an introductory session so I can assess your needs and where you’re at. I can provide comfort, an open ear and a safe environment to open up in. Let’s make a plan for your health journey. Let’s process the information you have already received. Let’s set up doctor’s appointments and second opinions, so you can gather all the information you need to make an informed decision about your health.  Let’s get you feeling confident in the decisions you are making for your own body and health and ultimately your happy life!

The System:
Most doctors are allotted 20 minutes with their patients. How is a doctor supposed to convey all the information to a patient and also hear the patient’s questions in that short amount of time?! There’s no changing the system, well not overnight or for right now anyway. That’s a whole other topic! So as an experienced nurse and a former patient, let me help and support you through making the most of your appointments.

My Vision:
I would love to support you along your medical journey. Maybe it’s for a surgery for yourself or maybe you’re a caregiver to someone else in a trauma or time of need. I can be your advocate and mentor. There was a big mental component in my own personal recoveries and I believe our society does not do a good job addressing the mental side of physical illnesses. My services are here to offer support and help that I didn’t have available to me when I was a patient. True health is to heal and align the physical, the mental and the emotional side of ourselves.

My Mission:
I am passionate about inspiring others to open up and share their stories. I love to build people up and help them overcome their challenges. Showing up for yourself, living an open and honest life and being empowered with self-love is what it’s all about. Life will knock you down, but it’s all about how you get through the low times. I am here to show you that it is possible to go up and over the hills and come out the other side as a stronger, happier and healthier individual. But, you can’t do it all on your own.

Connect With Me:
Please contact me with any questions you have or to schedule your first session. Also, go click on the link to my blog. There you can read more about my story. It’s a blog focused on my journey as a PAO warrior and much more. It followed along through my surgeries and recoveries and has more posts about what’s going on in my own life now. Happy Reading!

Cheers!

~Caitlin
